FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
£4 million in government grants and credits available for under chassis washing equipment
November 6th, 2007
Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK
Health and Safety legislation continues to effect the management of vehicles by councils. The chassis of vehicles need to be washed to prepare the vehicle for regular maintenance or MOT inspection. This traditionally could be done manually with a power sprayer. Health and safety regulations continue to become more restrictive and many organizations are now installing automatic cleaning systems.
Users of automatic systems are finding additional financial benefits to purchasing automatic equipment such as; the ability to lease the equipment, have an end of contract buyback price, make the operation a profit centre to cover equipment costs, and additional tax relief on purchase.
FDI UK, a Berkshire manufacturer of reliable and efficient under chassis washing equipment, has now been approved under the government Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme. The scheme is run by DEFRA and HM Revenue and Customs. FDI has been named as a qualified supplier of “water reclamation” and “under chassis washing” equipment under the Water Technology List. This means additional beneficial tax relief.
In a review of chassis washing costs by a council depot of FDI equipment, the costs were measured six months before and six months after the equipment was installed. The cost of washing a vehicle went from £60 per vehicle with a cleaning time of 2-3 hours down to £2.50 per vehicle with a cleaning time of 40 minutes. This was a 95% cost savings.
A lease option can also be offered for the purchase of the equipment saving precious capital budgets. It can also be negotiated to have an end of life buyback value of the equipment, further reducing the investment.
Some public sector owners of under chassis washing equipment are offering their equipment to local transport companies to clean their vehicles. This is done at a profit to cover the full cost of the equipment purchase and maintenance.
There is a further benefit to installing this equipment as it can be seen as fulfilling a government recommended water and equipment recycling policy.
FDI has a wide record of successful installations of their equipment and with the public sector at the following councils; Nottingham, Durham, Dorset, North Yorkshire, Lancashire, South Northampton, Macclesfield, Daventry, Ashfield and Pembrokeshire. They also offer a free site survey.
