FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Internal communication helps drive Government initiative to claim more court convictions

November 29th, 2007

Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK

No Witness, No Justice, a joint Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and Police initiative, has overseen the creation of 165 Witness Care Units across England & Wales, providing an enhanced level of service to victims and witnesses in cases where a charge has been brought. Witness Care Units ensure that victims and witnesses have access to individually tailored support and that they are provided with accurate, timely and relevant information as cases progress through the Criminal Justice System.

To support uptake for NWNJ, an internal communication strategy was seen as key to get Police and CPS employees to understand the value of the No Witness, No Justice project. A series of videos were commissioned to mirror the roll out of the project explaining the benefits for victims and witnesses and the opportunities it would create, educating staff, stakeholders and the public on the support available to victims and witnesses of crime and the role of the project in securing more convictions. Dramas for training, and documentaries following real-life success stories were also produced. Programmes were used as part of conferences, road-shows and general awareness campaigns. A final DVD compiling all videos, tells the NWNJ story and shares its success as a major new cross-departmental project.

The results have been impressive. Since implementation there has been a:

The CPS and Police worked with a leading visual communication specialists, Take 3 Productions, on this campaign to create the internal communications. Take 3, has also worked with The Home Office, Identity & Passport Service, Serious Organised Crime Agency, Ministry of Justice and HM Revenue & Customs amongst others on internal communication projects, bringing diverse audiences together.

Traditionally, it has been quite hard to measure the success of these internal campaigns. The antidotal evidence shows faster organisational change, higher moral and often lower staff turnover. As an example, both Sainsbury Supermarkets and InterContinental Hotels have actually measured the results from an internal marketing campaign. They respectively saw a 10-12% increase in staff satisfaction, and a 5-6% rise in knowledge about the company.

Take 3 Productions has won over 100 International communication awards over 15 years of business. Especially skilled at helping clients to communicate complex change strategies, diversity, employee engagement and CSR, sustainable development and the environment, Take 3 works in partnership with clients to develop unique, creative solutions that make a real impact on the audience.
