FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Data Security a Top Priority for the Public Sector
27th May 2008
Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK
Recent examples of breaches in data security within the public sector have thrown the spotlight on how public organisations store their data - and what precautions are taken to protect it.
NGD Europe 1 is one of the newest and most advanced data centres, incorporating all the latest technologies. It is purpose built to support high level technology infrastructure, has a high capacity power supply direct from the super grid and a variety of available interconnects.
Due to its unique design, Next Generation Data can provide clients with a range of solutions to suit their data centre requirements, whether it's a single rack or a custom designed private suite. The firm builds and operates its data centres to Tier 3 certification, ratified and approved by the Uptime Institute.
All of its space solutions provide clients with the same high specification base infrastructure, providing resilient power and cooling systems, with N+1 provisioning on all critical and mechanical services and state of the art security. Security features include, high specification double layer security fencing, licence plate recognition cameras on all entrances, 24 x 7 manned security & patrolling and biometric security at multiple levels. Customer specific measures are also available, as required. The facility has extensive power capabilities with a potential supply of 180MVA direct from the primary substation. The facility then has a private distribution network from the metering breakers in the primary substation, giving it full control over its entire power train. This ensures them a clean, stable and maintainable power infrastructure made even more resilient by the onsite backup generation capabilities, via one hundred diesel rotary UPS modules.
The data needs of every organisation are constantly evolving, requiring solutions that incorporate flexibility and scalability. Whilst Next Generation Data maintains the physical environment, the client controls the data and equipment, giving them the freedom to operate in a way that suits them best. This includes the ability to ‘reserve’ additional space, as the client’s data requirements grow with their organisation. Public sector clients include a number of national governmental agencies and the Welsh Assembly.
