FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Megapixel IP Cameras can save the failing £200 million government CCTV investment

November 6th , 2007

Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK

The UK has 20% of all the installed CCTV cameras in the world. This is equal to 1 camera for every 14 people in the UK. However, a recent study has shown that 80% of these cameras do not produce an image of sufficient quality to be used in court.

The truth about the ineffectiveness of the existing cameras has embarrassed all levels of government. Councils and cities especially are now faced with the challenge of upgrading the current CCTV infrastructure, which has cost £200 million to create, to meet the community and courts’ need for quality images to truly deter crime.

The solution is now at hand. It is Internet Protocol (IP) digital cameras that can produce an image up to 18 times higher resolution than current CCTV cameras. These digital cameras are claimed to be cheaper to run if a system has over 40 cameras; can be monitored from anywhere that has Internet access, and, with the right management system installed, provide high quality images for use in the courts as evidence.

Companies like Wavestore, www.wavestore.com, offer a fully integrated CCTV hardware and software platform that can seamlessly integrate new camera’s and old alike. They also offer the additional flexibility to allow for future add-ons and expansion, such as the ability to integrate schools CCTV cameras into the council’s existing monitoring station.

Wavestore bases it’s systems on Linux software (for low cost of ownership and minimal downtime), where its well proven design will record both analogue and digital cameras, and integrate many brands of CCTV cameras into their platform simultaneously.

Wavestore sales and support can be contacted on 020 8756 5480 or individuals can see the product in action by going to their website and trying the remote client demo.

They are also listed on the Buyers Guide online directory.
