FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Innovative Promotional Item Saves Electricity and Helps to Meet 10% Carbon Reduction Target

27th May 2008

Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK

The ecobutton has been launched in the UK. A simple device that attaches to any computer through a USB port, it is so engaging that it makes saving energy fun.

Power consumption by computers and monitors can account for 50% of the power use in a typical office. These machines are on regularly while staff are busy with other business. This is where the ecobutton comes in.

The ecobutton sits on the desk, and when that staff member is not using the computer, they just push the ecobutton. It then puts the computer and monitor into eco-mode saving energy. When the person returns to their computer, they press the ecobutton and the computer immediately powers up again.

The ecobutton then displays how much energy and money has been saved while the computer was in eco-mode.

The ecobutton is made out of recycled plastic, is RoSH compliant and will work with Windows 2000, XP or Vista operating systems.

The ecobutton product is not available through retail channels. It is available through Bourne International and can be customised with an organisation’s logo or name and used as a promotional gift.
