- I can get some languages or services cheaper from different places - why use a full-service language provider like Lifeline?
Many reasons. Firstly, we're a language Company - not just an agency, so we translate and proof-read in-house, instead of just sub-contracting like most agencies (and surprisingly many "Companies", who frankly should know better...). Our professional in-house team of qualified linguists, supported by our unique database, manage every aspect of a project - something else you won't get from agencies, or many Companies.
Secondly, because everything's from the same provider, it's joined-up - language and terminology are consistent and accurate, translation and interpreting services are integrated and presentation and quality is consistently excellent. Professional qualification also means we can Certify and Notarize for legal use. And because it comes from us, it's on-time and affordable.
Thirdly, we're experienced - we know for example that language in established UK communities evolves constantly, with vocabulary now embodying many English words. To communicate effectively you need a translator familiar with UK language influences. Many agencies simply buy cheap Urdu translation from Pakistan, meaning the translation, while it may well be accurate, uses educated Urdu beyond the comprehension of most UK Urdu residents. To overcome this Lifeline has close links with our own communities and access to excellent linguists within these (including qualified professionals) able to translate and review for the UK. TRANSLATION: We translate over 150 languages, including non-English combinations and Braille. We can work in almost every format, including PDF, websites, Quark, Visio, InDesign and Illustrator. Translations can be Certified, Notarised, or sworn, and Affidavits are available.
Added value includes review pre-translation to resolve source ambiguities or errors; translator support during translation with advice and query resolution; and 100% translation review, with full formatting to a standard as good as, and often better than, the original.

INTERPRETING: We provide qualified DPSI face-to-face interpreters in most languages - including British Sign Language (BSL) UK-wide. Regular public sector clients include courts, hospitals, social services and housing associations. We provide voice over and subtitling services from professional linguists, great voices and expert studios in most formats giving you the flexibility to deliver multilingual communication via webstreaming, DVD or as CD or audio cassette.

TRANSCRIPTION: With mother-tongue transcribers available in most languages we provide audio transcription from tape or audio file, including if required certification and/or translation, to clients worldwide. Transcription can also be Certified or Notarised.

TYPESETTING: Translated versions often look like the poor relation of the English original - it looks and feels cheap, and by losing much of the visual impact the message is diluted or lost. It doesn't have to be like that... working in both Mac and PC formats in most standard packages including Quark, InDesign, and Illustrator we provide perfectly laid-out press-ready translation of leaflets, posters, and other communication.
